The Garden

Canarian Flora

Grand Garden

Finca Escudero conceals a large garden, which, like the whole enclosure itself, is in continuous evolution. It houses more than a hundred plant species representative of the Canarian and Mediterranean flora, excellently cared and pampered for.

Structured in different perfectly differentiated areas,-such as its colonnaded walkway, its interrupted pergola or its lawned area-, wandering through it is undoubtedly a delight for the senses.

Different Functionalities

Garden Integration

The garden is projected in the same way as the four sides of the house, each with a different functionality, developed as a terraced based layout to smoothly adapt the gardens to the topography of the location.

Variety of Species

Canarian Palm Trees

Visitors will find Canarian date palm trees, -the absolute exponents of the place-, along with washingtonias, magnolias, jacarandas, citruses, plumerias, hydrangeas, rose bushes, cacti, coves, camellias, cenozoic cycads, dragos, wisteria, ferns, philodendrons, Oleas or Dorycniums.

Structured Facades

Circular Fountain

At the main entrance, visitors are received by a beautiful garden with a circular fountain that presides over the area, connecting it to the north face of the building. A space that encloses the cactus collection flanks the other end of the wall. Here the access and circulation of vehicles is prioritized by a checkered paved road, made from stone quarried from Arucas.

Garden Of...

Columns

On the east side of the house there is the garden of columns. An elevated walkway runs through this area, replicating the gallery or loggia on the upper floor of the house. Likewise, a square pool serves as the landing to the exedra staircase.

Interrupted Canopy

Innovation

Likewise, on the south side of the house there is an impressive lawned area with a swimming pool at one end. This area, which will host the events of the place, is topped off by a canopy of wisteria, interrupted in a very unusual and innovative way in the centre, leading to a terraced area overlooking the olive grove. In this place the enclosed garden opens up to present a view of the valley and hills.

Tapis Vert

Garden Carpet

Finally, visitors will be surprised on the west side of the house by a “tapis vert”, like a carpet, bordered by tall hedges of cypresses and bougainvilleas as well as an access to the olive grove, creating a clean open space which gives prominence to the spectacular palm trees.

Canarian Botanical Garden

Institutional Collaboration

In addition to the gardening team, La Finca has the invaluable collaboration of the "Viera y Clavijo” Canarian Botanical Gardens, which provides guidance for the enrichment of the botanical collection.
